Glyne Murray has had life-long interest and participation in the Arts, especially writing and music and has furthered this zeal over an extensive journalistic career during which he has been a prolific commentator on Barbadian music and general culture scheme.

Furthermore, he was Public Relations Manager for the Barbados contingent to CARIFESTA 1979 in Cuba and a member of the planning committee for CARIFESTA 1981 in Barbados and a member of the Board of Directors of the early National Cultural Foundation.

Mr. Murray’s service as Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of the Civil Service (1994-2003) included a period when he exercised day-to-day responsibility for the culture portfolio. Later, during his stint as Barbados' High Commissioner to Canada (2003-2008) he sought to advance the promotion of Barbados' cultural sector and, among other things, was instrumental in having in Ottawa, artistes such as Tamara Marshall, Aja, Marissa Lindsay and Ryan Lewis, to perform at jazz, blues and gospel festivals and also facilitated concerts there by the Moramus Singers and Evangelical Singers choirs.

He was educated at St. Giles Boys' Primary, Combermere School and the University of the West Indies in Barbados where he obtained a BA History and Sociology (Upper Second Class Hons), and Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology and Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Canada.
