Lynette Eastmond is an Attorney-at-Law in general practice with an emphasis on providing advice to both domestic and international business clients, including those in the creative industries. She has had experience in the public and private sectors at the domestic, regional and international levels. While in the public sector (1997 – 2007) she was a Senator, Minister of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development and Director of International Business. She negotiated tax and bi-lateral investment treaties for Barbados and in particular negotiated with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development during its Initiative on Harmful Tax Competition. During this episode she assumed the role of Director of the International Trade and Investment Organisation which was charged with articulating the response of small states affected by the initiative. Lynette was engaged in the negotiation of the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, the Free Trade Area of the Americas agreements and commitments at the level of the World Trade Organisation. Lynette has also been credited with the idea of establishing the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries (BSCI).

Within the private sector she worked with the firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers (1989-1997) reaching the level of Senior International Tax Manager, providing tax and corporate advice. She has also been a consultant on regional trade projects. Lynette was a Fellow of the International Fiscal Association based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and a tutor with the Law Faculty of University of the West Indies, Barbados. Lynette received her tertiary education at the University of the West Indies, the Hugh Wooding Law School and the University of London, England. At this time she serves as Treasurer of the Barbados Film & Video Association, a member of her Church Council and the District Emergency Organisation.
